[post_page_title]Oil spills caused by stubborn governments[/post_page_title]
This expensive environmental tragedy that occurred in 2002 could have all been avoided had the French, Spanish, or Portuguese governments let a damaged ship harbor in one of their ports.

When a Prestige Oil Tanker ship, that was carrying around 77,000 tonnes of fuel oil, was wrecked during a storm and was not allowed to dock, the tanker split into two and around 20 million gallons of oil was dumped into the ocean. The cost of cleaning up this mess is about $12 billion.
