One of the worst train crashed in the history California could have been so easily avoided. It all happened on September 12th, 2008, when the Metrolink train received a red signal that it ignored, all because the conductor was busy receiving messaging.
The Metrolink commuter train then collided with a Union Pacific freight train, fatally hurting 25 passengers. This accident was not only costly on the lives that it took, but also cost Metrolink about $500 million.
