In 2004, a tanker truck carrying around 32,000 liters of fuel had a collision with a car whilst driving on the Wiehltal Bridge, located in Germany. Tragically, the truck then crashed through the guardrail, causing an explosion that destroyed the bridge.
The initial temporary repairs cost around $40 million, and to replace the entire bridge cost an estimated amount of $318 million, making this accident one of the most expensive accidents that have happened in Germany.
