[post_page_title]New Jersey misses out on education grant[/post_page_title]
In 2010, the state of New Jersey was in the running for a large education grant from the federal government. In order to get the money, each state had to fill out an application, and the top ten states would receive funding.

However, New Jersey missed out on the money by just three points due to an error on the application. They were supposed to compare the budget from 2008 and 2009, but used the wrong years instead. The error cost New Jersey $400 million.
