Bodyguard Tom Majercak was hired at the 2014 Oscars to protect Ellen, her wife Portia and mother. However, the bodyguard said that unlike his usual experience protecting various high-profile celebrities, he found that working for Ellen was demeaning. Ellen did not acknowledge Majercak, and didn’t say hello to him, all whilst giving him a side glance. He described DeGeneres as being extremely cold and sly, in contrast to de Rossi, whom he said was very pleasant and took the time to have a small conversation with him.
