Many fans were infuriated when Ellen interviewed Kevin Hart after homophobic tweets had been unearthed from the comedian’s past. Hart refused to apologize for the tweets, saying that they were from his past and he has moved on. DeGeneres, during the interview, defended Hart and said that the people who were fussing over the tweets were merely “haters,” telling Hart that he “can’t let them destroy you.” Don Lemon from CNN was not impressed by Ellen’s performance in this interview, calling the entire interaction “insincere.”
