In 2007, Ellen received a lot of heat from fans after she continued filming “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” in the midsts of a writers strike. Apparently, she even started her show joking about the strike, further infuriating the already angered Writers Guild of America. Although she had legal requirements to keep filming, the union believed she should not have moved forwards and condemned this decision saying that Ellen should have shown more solidarity with her writer’s who had helped make her show successful.
