Of course, as bad as their situation was, things could always have been worse. None of the shelters that Rhodes looked into allowed the five of them to stay together, meaning the family would have been split up. That was the last thing Ebony wanted.
Conditions in the car might not have been ideal, but at least they were all still together. How was she supposed to leave her kids on their own in a shelter when it was her responsibility to look after them? She wasn’t, plain and simple.
