The shelter might not have fixed all of the family’s issues, but it certainly changed things for the better. Suddenly, their situation wasn’t quite as dire as before, and that gave Ebony the optimism she needed to start making a difference.
She was able to better focus on work, and that meant she had more money to put away. Little by little, she started saving her salary until eventually, she had enough to put towards a small apartment. That was a huge step forward for her and her family.
