Whilst stainless steel may be one of the most durable kitchen materials we know, that does not mean that it can not be damaged. Actually, it can be pretty problematic to use an abrasive pad on appliances made from stainless steel, as it can cause it to scratch badly.
This can potentially be fairly pricey to fix, so it is better to wipe up spills straight after they happen to prevent anything being caked onto these surfaces from the get-go.
