Aside from racking up a pretty hefty energy bill from using hot water for daily washes, always using hot water to wash your clothes is pretty bad for them.
Whilst it may be good to use hot water for those stains that are just that much more tough to remove, using hot water on certain natural fabrics can be fairly damaging. Instead, hot water should be used for all-white loads and cold water should be used for everything else.
