James Brown is most famous for holding the record for most songs that did not hit No. 1. on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. In 2013, Brown was inducted as a musician into the first batch of the Rhythm & Blues Music Hall of Fame and again as a songwriter in 2017. He is also the man that influenced The Beatles and The Rolling Stones.
Tragically, Brown passed away in 2006, leaving behind $100 million for underprivileged children in Georgia and South Carolina. However, this charity didn’t please Brown’s family, leading to an unsuccessful dispute.
