Nicole Richie was raised by her adoptive father, Lionel Richie. Unlike most adopted kids, Nicole does know her biological mom but has decided not to have any kind of relationship with her. After she found out she was pregnant in 2007, she decided that the time was right to reunite with her biological mom and dad, but that was only down to her making an effort.
However, she is an extremely strong woman who was brave enough to build a relationship with her biological parents, just so her kids had solid foundations.
