In 2012, Leighton Meester decided to open up about her upbringing, and it wasn’t a good one. In the first few months of Meester’s life, she was in a halfway house because her mother gave birth to her while she was in jail.
This must have been a pretty traumatic thing for the actress, however she has never used this to create sympathy for herself, and instead uses it to better herself. She has certainly proven that it doesn’t matter where you’re from, hard work and determination always pay off.
