Princess Michael of Kent’s father was a member of the Nazi Party; and if she’s been trying to distance herself from that side of her family, it’s been an interesting approach.
When asked about Prince Harry’s Nazi fancy dress incident, she said that the British media had ‘got excited’ about this ‘because of their ownership structure’ – seen by many as a reference to the anti-Semitic ‘Jews control the media’ trope. And in 2017, she wore a ‘blackamoor’ brooch (see below) to a dinner with Meghan Markle. Brooches like this are widely recognized as being racist.
