Prince Charles finally married Camilla in 2005, after the country had had a chance to forgive the two of them for having an affair while Charles was married to Princess Diana.
If and when Prince Charles inherits the throne, Camilla would normally take the title of Queen Consort – but Clarence House, the Prince of Wales’ private office, has stated a number of times that she will be styled ‘Princess Consort’ instead. It’s an unprecedented title, but it does mirror the title of ‘Prince Consort’ given to Queen Victoria’s husband Albert.
