Also known as spiny anteaters, echidnas are one of the few mammals that actually lay eggs, similar to the platypus. Adult echidnas are covered in tiny spines, and these animals can be found both in Australia and New Guinea. However, when they first emerge from their eggs, they’re spineless and hairless.

We can see from this floppy little guy that they’re pretty harmless when they’re born. They’re also kinda cute, and in a small, gray, alien kind of way.
