[post_page_title]A hairless echidna[/post_page_title]
Echidnas are one of many species of animals that give birth to animals without any of the hair that they will later grow. This makes sense, as it wouldn’t feel too good to give birth to an animal covered in protective, sharp spikes! This echidna seemingly never grew spikes as it got older, and that could be at least partially due to the odd skin condition that it seems to be suffering from.

That’s a common story with many animals that lack fur. Whether it’s mange or parasites, these diseases can wreak havoc on their hair.
