His humans would tell him things like “oh no, don’t give me those puppy eyes,” but the little doggo had no idea what they meant. They would tell him that whenever they were eating something tasty, but it’s not like he was begging them for a piece of their sandwich; he was just looking at them.
It was in this moment, when he saw himself in the mirror for the first time, that he understood what they meant. “Wow,” the puppy thought. “If I had a sandwich right now, I would totally give it to myself.”
