[post_page_title]Feet adornments for your betrothed[/post_page_title]
The far southern region of Tamil Nadu has a unique approach when it comes to the exchange of rings during a couple’s wedding ceremony. The new Mrs’ ring is not placed on her left ring finger as the case with their traditional western counterparts. Instead, two rings made of silver are placed on the foot of the groom’s beloved.

It’s believed that this show of affection brings about a blooming pregnancy. The metal gold is an ode to the goddess of abundance, Lakshmi, and because feet are seen as the most modest part of the human body, it does not seem right to add such an opulent ornament to it. Therefore it is strongly discouraged and a taboo of the highest regard.
