In the introduction to ABC’s iconic Wide World of Sports program, the intro always spoke about the “thrill of victory” juxtaposed with the “agony of defeat.” This particular spine-tingler brings that to mind. This would-be hero jumped into the yawning darkness to save his lady companion.
