Not only is it the biggest city garden in Amsterdam, it’s a standout amongst the top locations in all of The Netherlands. Travelers often enjoy picnicking during the day in the center of the park, but it can be a bit unnerving once the sun sets. In the daytime, the park is filled with families, couples, and friends, enjoying the sun. Lakes, fields, and play areas are scattered through the park, and there is even a popular outdoor theater.
Anne Frank House
Inside the Anne Frank House, travelers can see for themselves the space where Anne Frank wrote her diary while hiding from the German army. Visitors can imagine it would feel like to remain hidden away in such a small space for over two years. Inside the gallery are historical records, photos, pictures, and other possessions from the people who lived there. Anne Frank’s original journal and different scratch books are also on display. A free audio guide is available in nine different languages as well.

The Verzetsmuseum, situated by the Artist Royal Zoo, has been called the city’s best-kept secret. The Museum tells the inspiring stories of those who stayed and lived in the Netherlands during the time of the German occupation and reveals how World War II unfolded there. Through artifacts, photographs and records, and film and audio clips, guests can gain an understanding of history. Audio guides are available for visitors, and the displays are translated into both English and Dutch.
