The now mother of two beautiful children, Louis and Laila, is a very private individual who knows the price Hollywood can have on your personal life. She has lived through that price with her divorce from Jesse James after it was discovered that he had been unfaithful to her for much of their marriage. It was the 1994 film Speed that got Bullock on the critic and audience radar. She said that there were many people that told her not to take the role but that she felt like she needed to.
In an interview, she said, “Everyone told me not to do Speed, I mean, it looked like I’d be just ‘the girl,’ [but] I’ve learned to do things by instinct.” Thank goodness she listened to herself, otherwise her career could have taken a very different turn.
